A Letter from the Editor & Other Important Updates

Greetings, all!

You haven’t heard a lot from us recently, and the site has been quiet. I hope to fill you in on some things and to update you on future developments with this post.

THE GIST

The truth is, I recently faced tragedy after tragedy, emergency after emergency, stemming all the way back to a few months ago. If you haven’t heard back from us regarding a submission, this is likely why. I’m catching up slowly on the reading, and I apologize for anyone who has been waiting. I don’t usually spill the personal beans, since I want G&H to be as professional a company as possible, but for those who have been following along since the start, I think you at least deserve an explanation.

Between being involved in a bad wreck and totaling my vehicle, to having to move after being illegally coerced out of my home by the landowner, to a long-brewing situation that has led me to suing an individual, the past two months have been incredibly stressful, and many times I considered postponing the whole company and closing our doors temporarily. Having Manic Depression has always been a factor that I knew could affect my productivity and overall mental health with the stress that running a company brings. With all the terrible things that have happened recently, it’s been incredibly difficult to be positive at all, and to not wander into those dark fields. But I have always been known as the most stubborn individual in the multiverse, and I just can’t find it in me to quit. Especially not after everything this company has brought and the relationships that have been made. I decided to beat these problems, and your support has–and always will be–the one thing that gives me the most determination in making G&H thrive.

And, come on. It’s October. Or “Oppertober,” as you’ll see with the next issue of the magazine!

REGARDING SUBMISSIONS

Halloween is my favorite time of the year, and I would never forgive myself if I let everything fall to pieces just as Autumn started to show its face. So, if you submitted for the magazine last month, we will respond. As soon as possible. I want to get all the responses out by the 15th. If you’ve submitted a novella or novelette (I hope you received my prior email!), we will respond to you as soon as we can. The chapbooks are almost completely put together. We will be announcing those this month.

CROWDFUNDING PROJECT

We will also be launching a crowdfunding project for the 2019 year. We have two collections coming out from Pete Rawlik & S. L. Edwards, and there are a couple more that are in the works. We also have plans for 3 Year’s Best anthologies, and the 3 chapbooks. The crowdfunding project will be designed to help us market these projects and to make sure that our authors receive the best launches possible for their works.

HINNOM’S NEW DIRECTION

A rather huge announcement, is that Hinnom Magazine will be moving on to a semi-pro publication. The catch is that we will likely be releasing it quarterly in 2019, instead of bi-monthly. We want to expand the horizons and give authors even larger platforms, and this is definitely the best way to do so while maintaining the wonderful quality the magazine has been known for. A submissions window will open in the end of 2018/beginning of 2019, and we will release throughout 2019 as the year progresses.

FLASH SALE

There is also an October/Halloween flash sale from the 19th-26th of this month. All titles will be $0.99 in U.S. & U.K. markets on Amazon. So make sure to tell your friends!

PATREON

Our Patreon is also still up and running. As you likely understood from the first couple paragraphs, we could use any help we can get. Even if you just share the link. Your support will always be our most valuable asset.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who has been patient through this process. Sometimes things spiral out of control in life and it affects everything. You have all been the best readers I could ever ask for, and I can’t wait to continue giving you the best content possible.
